Ukuthasa is working to make a real difference to the lives of deprived people in South Africa.
Why? Because...
- By the year 2040 the average life expectancy in South Africa will be 39.
- 20% are infected with HIV/Aids and the spread of the disease is dramatically increased by poverty. Help is needed through counselling, healthcare and better nutrition.
- Millions of people are living in shacks with no sanitation, running water or electricity. They need homes.
- Thousands of babies and children have been orphaned because of HIV. They need to be looked after and adopted or foster parents have to be found.
- Thousands of people have no means of earning a living. More training programmes and job creation schemes need to be set up and supported.
