What is Ukuthasa? Who's Who? Changing People's Lives News How You Can Help

Ukuthasa continues to support the crèche and pre-school, which is such a pivotal part of community life in the Lwandle township in the Western Cape of South Africa. The pre-school gives disadvantaged children opportunities they might otherwise be denied, such as being taught how to hold a pencil and how to turn the pages of a book. These are skills that so many take for granted and yet so few township children in South Africa are fortunate enough to acquire.

The need for new and updated toys and equipment is constant. With a waiting list of 50+ children, Ukuthasa is looking to raise funds to assist with the extension of the premises.

Child sponsorship:

Ukuthasa is looking for sponsors for children in their final year at Emyezweni. The aim is to give each child the support he or she needs to continue with their studies and encourage them to progress to primary school education.

Sponsorship of a child is for one year, and there are two levels available:

£12.50 per month partial or £25 per month full sponsorship for one child.

Each sponsor will receive a photograph and short profile of the child they are sponsoring, and regular updates throughout the course of the year will be provided.
