HIV Peer Education Programme The fight against HIV/AIDS starts with education at an early age. We work in partnership with GOLD to bring their HIV/AIDS Peer Education Programme to the community. The aim of the programme is to help young people make informed life choices about safe sex and the dangers of HIV through educating and training teenagers to become mentors, message givers and advocates for their peers. The Peer Educators are nominated and elected to fulfil this role by their year groups. Find out more... |
Threads Book Series Ukuthasa funds the Threads project which was developed as a resource for schools, pre-schools and children's homes to enable young children to understand and express their grief following the loss of a parent or loved one as a result of HIV/AIDS. Through a series of storybooks and dolls, wherein the main character, Thandi comes to terms with the death of her parents, young children are helped though the trauma of loss and the stigma of having someone close to them affected with HIV/AIDS. Choices Hostel, Somerset West The centre provides services to women in crisis or at risk as a result of pregnancy often combined with an HIV/AIDS diagnosis. Women are able to stay at the safe home whilst waiting for the birth of their baby which can then be gifted to an adoptive family.
